— So, I had my first chance to ride in the 20º hybrid yesterday afternoon, mostly sunny with some scattered haze. Temp was around 45º, cooling to sub 40º by the end of my ride … and there was a light wind. So let’s just say it was a great Edmonton day for March, but still pretty damn fresh for a road ride at 20mph.
I had a light Nike Microfleece base layer and the hybrid … I was hoping for the best … My brain kept telling me I need another 3-4 layers.
… but I’ll be damned! I was completely comfortable throughout my ride (especially at speed, and descents, which normally even with multiple layers would give me a serious chill).
Yup, this is the real deal! I just love the lack of bulk. The hand of the fabric is stiff or heavy enough that I experienced no billowing or flapping (which is a nice change). Actually ran into another friend on the road, who marveled at my “lack” of appropriate attire for such a fresh day.
— Nobody likes being cold, and I'm no different. Racing at a professional level means going out and training regardless of weather conditions. Since I have found Shwalla I have been able to continue training through any weather conditions and actually enjoy it. Unlike othere cold weather options, Shwalla is designed with athletes in mind and the fit tapers the body unlike many bulky alternatives. Shwalla delivers on its promise, temperature specific, wind and water repellant, and cozy. Shwalla has become my new favorite brand of equipment.
— Teaming up with Shwalla was a perfect fit for me because we are both striving to deliver quality products. I wear my Shwalla vest when I coach or workout and it keeps me at just the right temperature. The vest blocks out the wind and wicks away perspiration to keep me nice and warm in some of the most cold and humid rinks. I have worn lots of performance apparel throughout my skating and coaching career, and Shwalla is by far the best product that I have ever used!
— After trying out these hybrids first hand, it really doesn't get any better! The 40 Degree Line is perfect for that early morning bike ride or run when you don't want to bother with a lot of layers, but you want to be warm and comfortable. When they say windproof, they really mean it! I can descend a 6% grade for 3 miles with just the 40 Degree Gear on and not even feel the cold!
The 40 degree knickers are perfect for that cold weather ride or run. Keeping your knees warm, but not letting you get too hot!
— I use the Shwalla Bloc vest for outdoor workouts in extreme weather. It provides the correct amount of warmth while providing protection from rain and wind. The fabric is positively amazing. The Bloc vest has taken quite a beating because of my activities and it still looks like I just bought it. I like that it cleans up easily too. Every extreme weather enthusiast should add this garment to their arsenal of gear.
